PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Worthington Enterprises has recalled a number of propane gas tanks due to possible leak risks.

The EVAS 20 lb. propane exchange cylinders were sold with an AmeriGas label, have the model number EVAS – M0859, a serial number beginning with a “W,” and a date code of either ’06-23″ or “07-23.”

A spokesperson for the manufacturer said that it is possible that consumers could have exchanged these cylinders with other propane distributors who would have then placed their own branded sleeve/label on them.

“Consumers should stop using the recalled EVAS 20 lb. propane cylinders immediately, close the top valve completely and return them to any AmeriGas Propane Exchange retail location for a free replacement,” Spokesperson Aaron Brown said. “If the top valve is closed, there is no fire hazard.”

Of the total recalled tanks, 490 were sold in AmeriGas cages in New Hampshire and Eastern Massachusetts area between July 27, 2023 and Aug. 1, 2023.

Around 400 of the tanks remain on the market. More information on the recall can be found here.
