Protestors gather outside Senator Jessica de la Cruz’s fundraiser, call on Providence to ‘protect its own’

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Protestors gathered in front of Ladder 133 Kitchen and Social on Tuesday night during Senate Minority Leader Jessica de la Cruz’s fundraiser.

The crowd demanded the city to “protect its own” after the Republican senator posted on social media that she supports the work of federal immigration agents arresting illegal immigrants with criminal records.

On X, Senator Jessica de la Cruz said “I support the work of our law enforcement in arresting dangerous criminals and want them to know they are invited to my event as my guests of honor. No charge to them, including ICE agents, too.”
