Providence: 38 new firefighters to be sworn in

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Fire Department will hold a graduation for its 54th Training Academy on July 19.
The ceremony will take place at 9 a.m. at Bishop McVinney Auditorium at 9 a.m. with a total of 38 men and women being sworn into the department.
Chief of Training Felix P. Ramos, Jr. will serve as Master of Ceremonies and will be joined by Providence Mayor Brett P. Smiley and Chief of Fire Derek M. Silva.
“I am proud to be welcoming these 38 individuals to serve Providence and help elevate public safety in every neighborhood,” said Mayor Brett Smiley.
“These graduates embody the dedication, professionalism, knowledge and leadership that is expected of our fire department, and I commend Chief Silva and the entire Providence Fire Department leadership for graduating another successful academy.”
