Providence Board of Licenses orders Federal Hill restaurant to close after person slashed

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Board of Licenses ordered Afrique d’Lounge on Spruce Street due to a cutting incident that occurred Sunday.

Qasim Flynn, a security guard at the lounge, was charged with disorderly conduct.

Police responded to the restaurant around 1 a.m. for a reported stabbing.

When police arrived, they were told that Flynn was allegedly in an altercation with a patron that escalated into him pulling a knife.

The patron allegedly received a cut on the forehead due to the incident.

The board ordered to restaurant to close for 72 hours before a hearing scheduled for Nov. 7.

The meeting minutes said that the closure was due to testimony from the Providence Police Department about an “ongoing threat to public safety.”
