Providence Board of Licenses to hold show-cause hearing for Lovera VIP

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — An update is expected today on the reopening of a Providence nightclub.

The Providence Board of Licenses is holding another emergency show-cause hearing for Lovera VIP today following an incident last month where three people were stabbed.

According to Providence Police Chief Oscar Perez, officers responded to Broad Street for a reported stabbing.

The victims included a 27-year-old man stabbed in the chest, a 28-year-old man with a stab wound to the shoulder, and a 33-year-old man who was left with a wound to his forearm.

Lovera VIP was closed for 72 hours and then allowed to reopen.

The board could make a final decision today on if the nightclub can remain open.

The meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m. this afternoon.
