PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE): A business in Providence is forced to temporarily close after a car crashed into the building around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday.
According to the Providence Police Department, a car driving down Belmont towards Academy lost control and crashed into Mt. Pleasant Hardware on 249 Academy Avenue.
The building sustained heavy damage. Mt. Pleasant Hardware will not be able to open until the damage is fixed.
The driver of the car, Johan Arias Lara, 30, was not injured. The driver was given a ticket for Obedience to Stop Sign and Failure to maintain control of vehicle.
The owner said this is not the first time a car drove into his business.
“20 years ago another car drove into the side of our building so it’s a repeat of that and almost in the same spot,” Mark Gillson said. “It was mind-blowing that it happened two times.”
