Providence City Council to debate ‘prohibited cooperation’ between ICE and police
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Tonight, one of the Providence City Council committees will be meeting about proposed amendments to the Providence Community-Police Relations Act.
Many of the proposed changes have to do with defining “prohibited cooperation” with federal immigration authorities and the designation of schools and courts as “sensitive spaces.”
The council’s committee on ordinances says that there will be a public comment session related to the city’s policies on immigration and policing.
The committee will be meeting tonight at 5:30 in the city council chambers.
