PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Wednesday’s men’s basketball game between Providence College and Georgetown has been cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns, according to Providence College.

Georgetown’s program was dealing with “COVID-19 related issues,” leading to the game’s cancellation.

Big East policy says that the team that has “an insufficient number of available players” will have to forfeit the game.

Providence will be credited with the win, Georgetown will receive the loss.

Anyone with tickets to the game will be compensated. Season ticket holders will get credit in their accounts that they can use towards tickets for next season.

Everyone else with tickets will be able to exchange them for tickets to see the Friars take on Seton Hall next Wednesday, or Xavier on February 23.
