Providence cuts the ribbon on new Department of Public Works headquarters

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence Mayor Brett Smiley helped open up the city’s new headquarters for the Department of Public Works.

The new Chapman Street headquarters will house the divisions of engineering, environmental services, traffic engineering, curbside management and the department’s fiscal and leadership teams.

It is only about a five minute walk from the department’s current office on Allens Avenue.

The department will relocate to the new building in the fall.
