Providence, East Providence receiving funds toward ‘Math Matters RI’
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — State and city leaders gathered today at Asa Messer Elementary to launch the new “Math Matters RI Campaign.”
Providence Mayor Brett Smiley said the Capital City is receiving $200,000 and they expect to use it to work with the Providence After School Alliance.
East Providence Mayor Bob DaSilva also said the city is receiving $70,000 to support afterschool math programs for their students.
The campaign promotes the importance of math instruction.
