Providence elementary school evacuated Friday morning

Students at an elementary school in Providence were evacuated Friday morning after a reported gas leak.

School officials say the Frank D. Spaziano Elementary School on Laurel Hill Avenue was evacuated after someone reported the smell of gasoline outside.

The fire department and National Grid were called to investigate and the school was clear for re-entry around 10 a.m.

All the students were taken to the school annex as a precaution.
