PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence Police confirm that two search warrants have been executed in reference to the arrest of a Providence gym teacher accused of molesting elementary school students.

Major Lapatin stated that those warrants were executed at the Providence School Department and at the Harry Kirizian Elementary School.

James Duffy, 53, was arraigned Wednesday and charged with five counts of second degree child molestation after the Providence Police Department received multiple complaints from parents in early May.

An investigation completed by the school and Providence police identified 4 female students, all 11-years-old, who said they were touched inappropriately by the gym teacher. Duffy is being charged for molesting 3 of them.

Duffy was a gym teacher at Harry Kizirian Elementary School in Providence and is now on administrative leave.

Court documents stated that students say the incidents happened in the cafeteria and during gym class.

One student claimed it happened 2 years ago when she was in 3rd grade.

Duffy is being held on $50,000 bail and cannot have contact with any children under 16-years-old.
