Providence eyes first significant snowstorm in almost 2 years
Providence could see its first 6"+ event since January of 2022
Snow lovers are likely to be on the edge of their seats this week as a potential winter storm shapes up for the weekend.
Mainly quiet weather is expected until then, with just a few spotty passing rain or snow showers on Thursday.
Cold air then arrives on Friday and sets the stage for when a storm passes just south of the area on Sunday, along a fairly active jet stream.
There will be ample moisture with this storm, and enough cold air in place for a primarily snow event for New England, but there is a good chance coastal locations will have mixing issues.
While it is a little too soon for concrete numbers, double-digit snow totals are not out of the question further inland with the current storm setup.
