Providence FD respond to fire on Atwells Avenue
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Fire Department said they were called to a fire last night on Atwells Avenue.
According to officials, the fire originated in a bedroom light fixture.
The third-floor tenant reported smelling a strange odor throughout the day and thought it could be the air conditioner, which he turned off.
He would later turn the air conditioner back on and shortly after the power went out, officials said.
The individual told officials while resetting breakers in the basement, he was alerted to popping sounds from the light fixture and returned to find small flames.
The fire was extinguished, and no injuries were reported.
