Providence man arrested after hours-long standoff in Johnston

JOHNSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — A four-hour-long standoff Saturday in Johnston ended with the arrest of a Providence man.

Johnston police said they responded to a home on Greenville Avenue around 9:30 a.m. for a domestic dispute and found 36-year-old Jamil Skinner in violation of a no-contact order.

Officials said crisis negotiators were called after Skinner barricaded himself inside, and he eventually surrendered to police.

Skinner is charged with violating a no-contact order — felony third and subsequent offense.
