Providence man charged after wrong-way crash in Connecticut

GROTON, Conn. (WLNE) — Connecticut State Police said a Providence man was charged after wrong-way crash on Interstate 95 in Groton on Aug. 3.
25-year-old Raheem Carter was charged with operating an unregistered motor vehicle, improper use of a license plate, illegal operation without minimum insurance, operating under the influence, driving the wrong way on a divided highway, and operating a motor vehicle without a license.
State police received calls around 1 a.m. of a car traveling southbound in the northbound side of I-95.
The car was then involved in a head-on collision near exit 89.
Troopers said the driver, Carter, allegedly showed signs of impairment and the car was not properly insured, registered, and didn’t have the proper license plate.
Carter was later released on a $2,500 surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment on Aug. 12.
