Providence man charged with having gun without license after foot chase

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Police Department said a man was arrested after a foot chase on June 5.

Donny Jarell Rodriguez was charged with carrying a firearm without a license.

The department said that Rodriguez was allegedly one of four people in a car on that was being questioned due to one individual being known to police.

Rodriguez allegedly showed suspicious behavior and ran when police attempted to question him.

Police said he pulled a gun from his waistband and tossed it away while running.

He was later caught by police after attempting to jump a fence in the area of Ruggles Street.

The firearm was also located near where Smith Street and Ruggles Street intersect.
