Providence police made an arrest over the weekend after a deadly stabbing Friday night.
This is the capital city’s 8th homicide of the year.
Police announced the arrest late on Saturday.
Officials say the suspect committed the deadly stabbing on his 28th birthday.
28-year-old Joshua Rodriguez of Providence is accused of killing 46-year old Daniel Stender to death late Friday night.
Police say Stender was stabbed multiple times at this home on Julian Street.
Stender was pronounced dead on the scene.
Neighbors in the Olneyville section of the city is concerned about the recent uptick in crime over the past few years.
"It was a quiet place until 4 years ago until those people came around. I’m afraid because of the children, my son and I’ve lived here for so many years."
Police tell ABC6 this was not a random incident and they do believe the murder was targeted.
Rodriguez was arraigned over the weekend, but is expected to face a judge later Monday.
