Providence man charged with video voyeurism after incident on URI campus

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, Mass. (WLNE) — Rhode Island State Police said a 29-year-old man was arrested on May 21 after an incident on the University of Rhode Island campus.

James Paquette, of Providence, was charged with video voyeurism after an arrest warrant was brought by the URI Police Department.

Paquette was brought to the Providence Police Department after his arrest.

The university released the following statement on the incident:

The University of Rhode Island Police Department worked in partnership with state and local law enforcement agencies to identify and apprehend the suspect on a charge of video voyeurism. The suspect, who has no current affiliation with the university, was arraigned and was issued a trespass notice for university property. A court date has been set. This remains an active criminal investigation with charges pending. As such, the information that can be provided at the present time is limited.
