Providence man convicted in 2021 double murder pushing for retrial

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Providence man found guilty of a 2021 double murder last month is vying for a retrial.

32-year-old Kelvin Maldonado was found guilty on two counts of murder and gun charges at the end of January.

However, before he could be sentenced, a motion for a new trial was filed.

Wednesday the court will hear arguments for the motion for a new trial at 2 p.m.
