PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Attorney General Peter Neronha said a Providence man was found guilty of the 2022 murder of Angelo Gomez.

38-year-old Robert Komhlan was found guilty of first-degree murder, discharging a firearm while in the commission of a crime of violence with death resulting, carrying a pistol without a license, and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited based on a prior conviction for a crime of violence.

Neronha said that on April 1, 2022, Komhlan and other members of the East Side street gang attended Wonderland Gentleman’s Club where surveillance cameras captured the defendant as he exited the club and got into a dark SUV.

Multiple surveillance cameras in the area saw the SUV drive about a block before turning around and returning to the club, where Komhlan shot Gomez three times before fleeing.

Komhlan then deactivated his cell phone and fled the Providence Police Department’s jurisdiction.

He was then apprehended by police and the United States Marshalls on June 17, 2022 and extradited back to Rhode Island.

Komhlan is currently being held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions.
