Providence man pleads guilty to fentanyl distribution charges
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Providence man has been convicted of trafficking more than 2,000 fentanyl-laced counterfeit pills according to acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom.
Michael Sellers, 64, pleaded guilty to two counts of distribution of fentanyl.
On two occasions in November of 2023, Sellers sold more than 1,000 of the pills to a buyer while under FBI surveillance.
These transactions occurred on November 16 and 24, respectively, with totals of 1,027 and 1,024 pills sold, both sales in exchange for $2,500 in cash.
The pills were immediately seized by law enforcement on both dates.
Sellers will be sentenced on June 18, 2025.
