PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Providence man will spend nearly two years in prison after admitting to assaulting a U.S. Postal Service employee in 2021.

Branley Ferreras-Severino, 23, pleaded guilty in August 2023 to a charge of assault on a U.S. Postal Service carrier.

Ferreras-Severino was sentenced to 21 months of incarceration on Wednesday, with three years of federal supervised release.

In November, 2021, Ferreras-Severino stopped his car on a narrow Providence street that only accommodated one vehicle at a time.

Maneuvering around Ferreras-Severino’s BMW, a postal worker smiled at the driver and was confronted by Ferreras-Severino a short time later by his truck.

Ferreras-Severino then punched the postal worker.
