Providence Mayor opens applications for Mayoral Fellowship

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Mayor Brett Smiley announced Thursday the City is now accepting applications for the 2024 Mayoral Fellowship Program.

This program offers a creative way for college students and recent grads to earn real-life experience in the executive branch of city government.

Mayoral fellows will be placed in a city department corresponding to their backgrounds, interests, and suitability.

They will work on important projects designed to improve quality of life  for Providence residents.

Mayor Smiley shared that many past fellows have continued their journey with the City.

Working under the supervision of a Department Director, the 10-week program offers participants an earning of $3,000 and academic credit.

The City urges students or recent grads interested in pursuing a career in local government to apply for the 2024 Fellowship program.

The deadline to apply is May 10, 2024.

The Fellowship will begin June 6 and conclude Aug. 16, 2024.
