Providence New Year’s Eve hit-and-run victim dies

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Police Department said that the victim of a New Year’s Eve hit-and-run has died.

Spokesperson Lindsay Lague said that 57-year-old Edwin English died Tuesday morning.

The accident happened at approximately 7:17 p.m. at the intersection of North Main Street and Rochambeau Avenue.

Lague added that police are still searching for the driver of the car that hit English.

The suspect vehicle is described as being a dark-colored SUV, possibly a Jeep Commander, likely with front-end damage.
