Providence nurse, EMT has license suspended after alleged sexual misconduct

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) —  A registered nurse practitioner and emergency medical technician had their license to practice suspended after complaints of alleged sexual misconduct.

According to a Rhode Island Department of Health order obtained by ABC 6 News, Louis Dellaperuta, a licensed practitioner since December, 2022, was working at an urgent-care facility when allegations arose.

Documents read that sometime in early June of this year, misconduct began when Dellaperuta made a sexually suggestive comment to a medical assistant working with him at the facility.

Following the comment,  the order contends that he requested to observe the taking of a woman patient’s vitals to whom he was not assigned care.

Documents further allege that Dellaperuta inquired on the location of a rash the victim had and stretched the waistline of the victim’s pants, exposing their genitals.

Dellaperuta then left the room and let the assigned practitioner return to the victim’s care, reads the RIDOH findings.

He later returned to the room, closed the door and directed the victim to strip, after which, it is alleged, he inappropriately touched the victim and left the room afterwards.

Officials said no proper documentation of the encounter was made related to the multiple interactions that occurred.

A hearing is scheduled for June 27, to determine further action towards suspension or revocation of Dellaperuta’s license to practice.
