Providence officer taken to hospital following car crash

A Providence police officer was taken to Rhode Island hospital for evaluation after witnesses say his cruiser was broadsided by a blue Honda.
The accident happened at the intersection of Gano and East Manning Streets just after 4:30 Thursday afternoon. The cruiser hopped the curb and ended up on the front lawn of a building.
Police tell ABC 6 News that the officer is part of the traffic bureau and was responding to a report of an accident on Hope Street at the time of the crash.
The driver of the other vehicle was transported to the hospital as well. Police tell ABC 6 News that non of the injuries are life threatening.
The crash remains under investigation.
