Providence police arrest suspect in 2023 homicide

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence police have arrested a suspect in an August, 2023 drive-by shooting murder that occurred on June Street.

Nathan Rodrigues, 22, is charged with murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy and other firearms related charges in the death of 33-year-old Jhensen Baldayac.

Two other individuals were shot during this incident and suffered severe injuries.

“I commend our Detective Bureau for their tireless efforts throughout this case which resulted in removing a violent criminal from our streets,” said Providence Police Chief Colonel Oscar Perez.

“I would also like to recognize the Detectives who worked this case, Joseph Nezier and Alicia Hersperger as well as Sergeant Andres Perez for his oversight of this investigation.”
