Providence Police arrest two in massive firearm trafficking scheme

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)-
Police released details Friday on two arrests made in connection to a massive firearm trafficking scheme in Providence.
In a two-month long investigation the Providence Police Department seized seven firearms and over 5,000 rounds of ammunition. Maj. David Lapatin says ammunition was hidden in coffee containers.
Many of the guns were purchased legally in Rhode Island, and headed to the Dominican Republic.
The two suspects involved are being charged with multiple felony offenses, says Providence Police.
The suspects have been identified as 36-year-old Amado Vagas Duverge and 31-year-old Alba M. Moronta- De Espinal.
Duverge was charged with 24 felony offenses, and De Espinal was charged with nine.
Police confirmed that children under the age of four-years-old were in the home at the time of the arrests.
While shotguns were secured, as well as one of the handguns, investigation with family services remains underway.
