Providence police hold briefing on October moped crash

Jhamal

PROVIDENCE, R.I (WLNE) – Following the Attorney General’s ruling on the October 18th officer-involved moped crash that seriously injured Jhamal Gonsalves, the Providence Police Department is expected to hold a briefing in response.

On Thursday, Attorney General Peter Neronha said no charges would be filed against the officer involved in the crash, saying there was no sign of criminal recklessness.

The investigation concluded that the officer’s vehicle struck a stop sign, which struck Gonsalves in the helmet.

Providence Mayor Elorza, Safety Commissioner Steven Pare, and Providence Police Chief, Colonel, Hugh Clements will be speaking at the briefing.

The briefing is scheduled for 9:00 AM
