Providence police identify suspect in deadly shooting
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence police named a suspect who is accused of murdering a 19-year-old at a summer gathering over the weekend.
Chief Oscar Perez said the man they’re searching for is 19-year-old Kevin Giron.
Officials said they surrounded a home on Hudson Street where they believed Giron was staying on Monday afternoon.
Authorities went inside around 2:30 p.m. and saw Giron wasn’t at the home. They’re now asking Giron to turn himself in to police.
Perez said the large response was out of an abundance of caution, as he said Giron is considered armed and dangerous.
Nearby neighborhoods were also evacuated as a precaution to keep the situation from escalating.
Authorities said Giron has a previous criminal history.
Anyone with information about Giron’s whereabouts should contact detectives Alicia Hersperger or Joseph Nezier with Providence police at 401-243-6406.
Officials said Giron’s family is cooperating in the investigation.
