Providence police investigate attempted carjacking, shooting

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Providence police are working to determine if a shooting and an attempted carjacking is connected.
Police said they received a report of an attempted carjacking just before 6 p.m. Tuesday at Elmwood Avenue at West Friendship Street.
Upon arrival, it was determined shots were also fired in that area during the same time.
Investigators spoke to a witness at the scene who is cooperating.
Also during that same timeframe, police said a man in his 20s arrived at Rhode Island Hospital with a gunshot wound. His injuries are said to be non-life threatening.
Police are now working to determine if these incidents are connected.
