Providence police investigating homicide
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred at 1315-1317 Westminster Street.
Police received a call Wednesday morning to do a wellness check on a person who was potentially injured, according to Providence Police Chief Colonel Oscar Perez, Jr.
Officers entered the Westminster Street residence and discovered an unidentified male with trauma injuries.
“Any chief in this nation knows that any one homicide is one too many,” said Perez.
“We do what we can to prevent and mitigate the violence that occurs in the city. I have the upmost respect for the police in the city, it’s unfortunate and unpreventable.”
The investigation is ongoing.
