Providence police investigating morning stabbing incident

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence police have arrested one suspect in a Monday morning stabbing incident that occurred at a Branch Avenue apartment.

According to Kristy DosReis, Providence Chief Public Information Officer of Public Safety, the incident occurred at approximately 10:50 a.m. at 982 Branch Avenue.

Arriving officers located both the victim and the eventual suspect on the fourth floor of the building, according to DosReis.

The victim was suffering from a non-life-threatening chest wound.

According to the preliminary investigation, the victim and resident of the apartment, became involved in a dispute with a visitor known to his girlfriend.

The incident remains under investigation by Providence police detectives.
