Providence Police recruit injured in accidental shooting

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence Police have confirmed a new recruit was injured in an accidental shooting Monday afternoon.

Teudy Asencio, 29, was shot in the foot while a relative was showing him a firearm at a home in Cranston.

Asencio was transported to the hospital for treatment, authorities say.

Police are waiting to learn about the extent of the injury before deciding Ascenio’s fate in the police academy.
