Providence Police release identities of seven arrested after nightclub disturbance

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Police Department released the identities of the seven people arrested after a Providence nightclub disturbance that happened early Sunday morning.
Police arrested Jose Gomes, 33, Nilton Fernandes, 19, Sebastian Veiga, 39, John Ganzalvs, 33, Erik Depina, 26, Kevin Brito, 28, and Melanie Tavares, 22.
Just before 2 a.m. on Sunday, over 20 Providence police officers responded to a crowd of around 500 people at Motion Nightclub.
Police said several people became “confrontational and aggressive toward the officers” prior to the arrests.
The Board of Licenses held an emergency meeting Sunday afternoon in response to the disturbance, and ordered the nightclub to close for three days.
The seven individuals are facing charges that include simple assault, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and obstruction.
