Providence Police say a student was charged for assaulting teacher

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence police announced on Monday that a Roger Williams Middle School teacher was assaulted by a student.
Police said that the 61-year-old old teacher was assaulted by a 14-year-old student after trying to break up a fight between two students.
When the teacher attempted to stop the fight, one student then grabbed the teacher by the neck and “walked her back a few steps,” according to police.
The middle school student was charged with assault and disorderly conduct.
