Providence police investigate fatal shooting over the weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A man was shot and killed near a park in the Olneyville section of Providence over the weekend.

The shooting happened on Valley Street by Donigan Park late Saturday night.

A 19-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not immediately released.

An ABC 6 News crew saw candles displayed on the sidewalk the following day in his memory.

No further information was immediately released.

Police in nearby Pawtucket are investigating after a 21-year-old man was shot and killed while delivering food on Friday night.

No arrests were made in either of the shootings. Police believe multiple people were involved in the shooting death of Garcia, and that he was targeted.
