Providence Public Library launching virtual course on race
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- The Providence Public Library will be hosting a remote learning course to the public focusing on how to discuss race.
The five week course which begins in mid-January will explore topics of implicit bias, microaggressions, privilege, systems of disproportionality, and managing race discussions.
Described as a learning circle, the participants will engage in a dialogue around their readings, reflections, and research. The goal is to help members of the community approach and navigate a difficult topic.
The course will accept 12 to 15 members, who can receive college credit for their participation, running virtually each Wednesday from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. from January 12 to February 9.
Those interested in registering for the course should go to the Providence Public Library’s schedule, or contact them at 401-455-8000 or through email.
