Providence Public Schools and teachers union reaches tentative contract agreement
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Public School District and the Providence Teachers Union said that they have reached a tentative three-year contract agreement.
The two said that the new agreement would see educators receive wage increases phased over the life of the agreement, as well as “modestly” increasing employee contributions to healthcare.
The agreement also “maintains existing hiring processes, class sizes, and caseloads.”
“We continue to make meaningful progress toward our turnaround goals by working in collaboration with our teachers,” Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green said. “This contract gives us stability, maintains high expectations for our educators, and aligns with our mission to ensure all students have access to a world-class education.”
