Providence Public Schools to hold hiring event for crucial positions

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence Public Schools will hold a hiring career event for hard-to-fill areas on Tuesday.

Hiring managers will meet with candidates by appointment only from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the E-Cubed Academy on Branch Avenue.

“The upcoming hiring event hosted by the Providence Public School District exemplifies our unwavering commitment to making sure students have quality educators supporting them to reach their highest potential. PPSD is taking action to attract a diverse pool of talented educators and ensure the district continues to move forward,” said Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green.

The selected candidates will be eligible for hiring incentives and bonus packages starting at $5,000 for serving in crucial areas, including: math, special education, psychology, librarians, nurses, ESL and dual language/bilingual speech and language pathology, and science.

There are several hiring incentives including a $2,500 bonus for experienced teachers and $25,000 in loan forgiveness for teachers of color.

The district is hoping the hiring event will get them on the right track for the school year.
