PROVIDENCE, RI –
Runners, walkers and bikers all came out Monday, to enjoy the warm weather. Providence was booming with activity as record-breaking temperatures soared to 66 degrees, kick starting the month of February.
"It’s marvelous, can’t beat it,” said one man walking the canal.
Many chose to head outside and enjoy the waterfront.
"It’s incredible. Earlier I was walking around with a short–sleeve shirt on, its beautiful. I’m feeding the ducks right now,” Johnson and Wales University student, Aaron Cohen.
"It’s pretty surprising,” added Maya Dixon of Long Island, NY. “It’s been really cold the past few days, so for it to be sunny and nice out, it was a breath of fresh air."
Some were caught a little off guard with such warm weather.
"It’s pretty surprising,” said Dynasty Williams. “I was wearing Ugg’s and a down jacket going to going to Starbucks. And I was like, oh my gosh, I’m overdressed."
Many told ABC6 they loved the unusually high temps. Although, it was not ideal for everyone. Some ice skaters in Kennedy Plaza wound up slipping and sliding on melting ice.
"We thought it would be a great day to come out and enjoy the warm weather, hoping the ice wouldn’t be too melted,” said Dough Hollenbeck, who was help his two girls skate. The ice was salvageable, but for those learning, the wet surface was a little bit of a challenge.
"The puddle is hard because its so warm outside,” said one of his daughters.
