Providence skating rink closes for season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ The outdoor ice skating rink in downtown Providence has closed for the season.              

The Alex and Ani City Center says it had to end the skating season because of the rain and unseasonably warm temperatures.             

The rink typically closes in the first half of March.              

The area will be converted to a space for festivals, concerts and other public events at Kennedy Plaza from April through October.
