Providence stabbing victim dies of injuries, police searching for suspect

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The victim in a Sept. 20 stabbing in the city died of his injuries.

Police identified the victim as 34-year-old Brian Clements.

He was stabbed at the corner of Chalkstone Avenue and Zone Street, just before 4 p.m. Friday, police said.

It is Providence’s ninth reported homicide of 2024.

Police said they are now looking for a suspect, who a spokesperson identified as 28-year-old Shabree Lovett.

Providence police ask that anyone with information about Lovett’s whereabouts call detectives.
