Providence takes extra precautions during first snow of the season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Mayor Brett Smiley said that the capitol city was well equipped for its first official snowfall of the season.
More than 85 trucks were ready to plow and salt the roads within the city limits.
Smiley said that commuters could expect the roads to be clear by Monday morning, but said drivers should use caution.
He also emphasized the importance of community during events like storms
“For a resident in Providence, think about your neighbors,” Smiley said. “If you’ve got an elderly neighbor or a neighbor with mobility issues, go ahead and shovel their sidewalk for them if you can. Try to be a little extra neighborly.”
