Providence to conduct Hurricane Barrier drill, expect detours
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The City of Providence announced that they will be conducting a hurricane barrier practice drill on Saturday, March 16.
During this drill, Allens Ave will be closed between Eddy Street and Blackstone Street from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Northbound traffic will be detoured to Blackstone Street to Eddy Street and back to Allens Avenue.
Southbound traffic will be detoured to Eddy Street to Blackstone Street and back to Allens Avenue.
Drivers should be prepared for delays in traffic and necessary detours.
The city asks that residents plan ahead during this time.
This drill is aimed to ensure that the hurricane barrier can be deployed efficiently during severe coastal storms.
