PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence City Council will hold an open meeting Thursday for the public to comment on the proposed closure of the South Water Street bike lanes.

The Public Comment will start at 5:15 p.m. Thursday and will take place in the city council chamber on the third floor at 25 Dorrance Street in Providence.

The public will be given one minute per person to speak for a total of 30 minutes.

The proposed change comes as part of Mayor Brett Smiley’s plan to mitigate the effects of the Washington Bridge westbound closure.
