Providence to host public meeting on comprehensive plan this week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The City of Providence will host an open house on its comprehensive plan update process on Thursday.
The Providence Comprehensive Plan Open House will begin at 6 p.m. at the Providence Career and Technical Academy.
Press Secretary Josh Estrella said the meeting will allow community members to learn more about the plan, the update process, and provide input on key topics being addressed in the new plan.
He added that several more community engagement opportunities will be held about the update process.
“The Providence Comprehensive Plan update happens once every decade,” Estrella said. “The plan is a framework document that guides the long-term planning, policy, land use, and zoning codes for the city.”
The update process was launched by Mayor Brett Smiley earlier in the month.
Residents can visit plan.providenceri.gov for more information on the plan update and other community engagement programs.
