PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence is now the proud home to four peregrine falcon hatchlings.

The Audubon Society of Rhode Island closely observed the birds’ nest atop the Superman Building for over a month, waiting for the eggs to hatch.

The first egg hatched on April 25, with two more hatchlings popping out on April 26, and the last emerging on April 27.

One of the fastest birds in the world, peregrines falcons are capable of traveling speeds of up to 200 miles per hour, according to Audubon’s bird guide.

Peregrines are uncommon in the Northeast but can occasionally be found nesting in skyscrapers in large cities.

The Providence nest can be viewed live on the Audubon falcon cam.
