PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island officially renamed India Street in Providence to Portugal Parkway on Saturday.
Sen. Jack Reed and Rep. Seth Magaziner joined state leaders in a ceremony on the pedestrian bridge facing India Point Park.

Reed said the street was renamed in recognition of Portuguese culture in Rhode Island, especially in the historic Fox Point neighborhood.
The ceremony commemorated Portugal Day in Rhode Island.
